A Unique and Distinctive Leadership Development Experience

Background

“You are someone we can follow because you will lead us to a better place.”

As businesses face unprecedented levels of industry disruption whether that is from new and disruptive new competitors or the need to consolidate into even greater mega companies, people are asking “Where do we discover the new leadership wisdom to equip us for this period?”

Smart and well educated people are comfortable with and even enjoy complexity and so their natural inclination is to look for complex solutions to deal with complex problems. However, the real breakthrough is when you discover the simplicity that exists when you go beyond complexity.

The leadership wisdom that can help us exists already and has existed for many hundreds of years and it can be found in what many would consider to be an unlikely place.

The real challenge is, do our leaders have the humility to accept that they can find what they need with people who for the last 100 years we have considered are in need of our help and support?

Indeed, perhaps this is the first important discovery!  When learning about leadership we need to listen to those who we think that we need to teach!

Your Learning Path

We facilitate your reflection and discussion with Maasai Leaders. With our facilitation you will explore, understand and plan how to apply these lessons in your business to create an inspired and Sustainable Organisation.

The learning includes but is most certainly not limited to:

Who are the Maasai?

The Maasai are one of Kenya’s 42 distinct tribes (they also live in Tanzania) and have been nomadic pastoralists for many hundreds of years.

They are respected for the strength of their culture which has sustained during times of significant change. Indeed, they have learnt to separate Culture from Habits!  Just because you change what you do and how you live, does not mean that you must lose the qualities of the culture that has sustained you.

They have been successfully dealing with highly disruptive change for more than 100 years and now, with climate change bringing more frequent and longer droughts and land law changes meaning that the nomadic lifestyle is increasing challenging, they are adapting once again.

They know that to adapt and change, you must first be willing to challenge the taboos that have shaped your lives for many years and sometimes centuries.
